Most of the costs captured in these types of studies are those directly attributed to the product or stock that is lost. Remediation works, material replacement, social cost and secondary or downstream losses aren’t always captured, but are real. Then you put a value on your time to repair the issues created.
We are yet to meet a primary producer, landowner / manager or asset manager who has the time or money to invest in the invasive pest problem to the level they’d be satisfied with. Most parties believe they don’t have the time or think a solution is financially out of reach.
